ABOUT OBO
One method. Many fields. A very human reason.
OBO Method was created by Harald Burgener, a curious generalist fascinated by a recurring contradiction: people can be capable, informed, and deeply motivated—and still feel unable to take the next step.
THE QUESTION
Why do we keep getting in our own way?
Across personal change, work, performance, relationships, and skill learning, the surface problem changes. The underlying pattern often sounds familiar:
I know what to do. I just cannot seem to make myself do it.
OBO began as an attempt to understand that gap without reducing it to laziness, weakness, or a lack of ambition.
MULTIPOTENTIALITY, ORGANISED
Breadth is not the problem. It needs an organising principle.
Harald has never been interested in only one subject. Rather than hide that variety, OBO gives it structure.
The Method is the spine: notice the protective pattern, decode its prediction, and build new evidence through small action.
The Lab is the playground: apply that logic to useful and sometimes unexpected experiments.
THE STANDARD
Useful before impressive.
Every published experiment should be clear about:
- what it is for;
- what it asks from you;
- what evidence supports it;
- where its limits are;
- when another kind of help is more appropriate.
CREATED AND CURATED BY HARALD BURGENER
Built from lived experience. Refined in practice.
Harald Burgener is a hypnotherapist, change strategist, and lifelong student of what helps people move. He began reading self-help books at 16—long enough ago to describe himself, with a smile, as a former “self-help victim.”
Later, after living through panic attacks, he found his own way back to freedom. That experience shaped a conviction that still guides his work: insight matters, but change becomes real only when it can be translated into something a person can actually do.
Across his work with more than 1,500 clients, Harald kept seeing the same gap in very different forms: capable people often know what they want and understand what would help, yet an old protective pattern keeps them from taking the next step.
OBO Method brings these threads together: practical psychology, state change, self-observation, and small real-world experiments. It is not a promise of instant transformation. It is a way to make the next useful move smaller, safer, and more honest—and to learn from what actually happens.
The clearest way to understand OBO is to explore the method itself.
